Habema Task Force’s Free Medical Care Brings Joy to Kelanungin Village Resident

PUNCAK - Dedicated to ensuring the welfare of communities in Papua, the Task Force of Raider Infantry Battalion 323/Buaya Putih Kostrad, under the operational command of TNI HABEMA, showcased its commitment through a Free Health Treatment Program for the residents of Kelanungin Village, Gome District, Puncak Regency, Papua Tengah Province, on Thursday (16/01/2025).

This heartfelt initiative, led by First Lieutenant Galang from Gome Post, highlights the military’s humanitarian role alongside its security duties. On that day, the Task Force swiftly responded to a resident, Desmira Waker, who sustained a head injury caused by a zinc sheet accident at his home. The Medical Team at the Gome Post immediately treated Desmira, demonstrating the Task Force's readiness to provide aid in urgent situations.

Lieutenant Colonel Tri Wiratno, Commander of the 323 Task Force, emphasized the importance of focusing on basic needs, especially healthcare, for communities near the operational area. “Caring for the people’s health is not just part of our duty—it’s a reflection of our commitment to fostering trust and solidarity with the communities we serve, ” he stated.

During the treatment, the Medical Team took time to communicate with Desmira and his family, creating a warm and supportive environment. This engagement not only strengthened bonds between the military and the local community but also provided valuable insights into the village’s security conditions. After completing the treatment, the Medical Team supplied Desmira with free medication to aid his recovery, leaving him visibly relieved and grateful.

“Thank you, Commander 323. I feel much better now. God bless, ” said Desmira, smiling after receiving the care.

Upon receiving the report of the successful initiative, HABEMA Commanding General, Major General Lucky Avianto, praised the effort. “The dedication of Task Force 323 in addressing the healthcare challenges of Kelanungin residents underscores TNI’s mission to support the acceleration of welfare development in Papua. These efforts foster trust and unity, paving the way for a brighter future, ” he affirmed.

The Free Health Treatment Program is more than just an act of service—it’s a testament to the Indonesian Armed Forces' commitment to building a stronger and healthier Papua. By addressing the immediate needs of communities, programs like this bring hope, foster collaboration, and ensure that no one is left behind in Papua’s journey toward prosperity.
